Burglary suspect turns himself in

The third man wanted in connection with a string of burglaries in two counties turned himself in Monday.

Demtriyunte “TeTe” Smith, 21, of Opp was being sought for charges related to a burglary last week at a Potter Road home.

Smith, along with James Danshay Edwards, 27, and Oljawon Oneal Hines, 20, allegedly pawned some of the items form the residence at a local shop.

Police located the vehicle at the Super C convenience store on Hwy 331 South, but when officers approached the vehicle, Smith fled on foot.

Edwards and Hines were apprehended Thursday and charged with receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana II and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Smith was also charged with receiving stolen property I, attempting to elude, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the county jail on a $113, 500.

Covington County Sheriff’s Investigator Wesley Snodgrass said that Smith also was charged with violation of probation out of Coffee County.
