Man wanted on felony warrants, tased
A man wanted of felony meth charges led police on a 10-mile chase through Babbie Tuesday and wielded a knife at agents.
DTF Agent Greg Jackson said that agents assisted by the Covington County Sheriff’s Office were on their way to serve felony warrants for distribution of a controlled substance – methamphetamine — when Jackson said he spotted Vickey “Buddy” Sasser and attempted to stop him.
“Sasser failed to stop and a pursuit ensued,” he said. “Sasser left the road and drove through a wooded area and then got back on the Babbie Road.”
Jackson said during the chase, Sasser slammed on his brakes attempting to wreck officers.
“After a lengthy pursuit, Sasser stopped his car and jumped out of his car with a knife in his hand,” he said. “Agents pursued him on foot and were able to use a taser to subdue him.”
Sasser was charged with distribution of methamphetamine, attempting to elude and reckless endangerment and was held on a $156,000 bond.
