The Montezuma Center got a facelift this past weekend thanks to a partnership between South Central Alabama Mental Health and BB&T’s Andalusia and Opp branches.
On Saturday, volunteers from BB&T helped spruce up the grounds at the center.
“A fresh facelift brings hope to a brighter future for those suffering with mental illnesses,” said Staci Wilson, marketing and training director for SCAMH.
The Montezuma Center was this year’s BB&T Lighthouse Project recipient for the two branches.
“Thank you to the staff of the Andalusia and Opp BB&T branches for their hard work in the scorching heat this past Saturday,” Wilson said. “It looks awesome.”
BB&T Market Leader Jennifer Harrison said the company wanted to work with SCAMH because of the great work they do within Covington County and our local community.
“We’re proud to team up with them and help in any way we can,” she said.
This is the seventh year for the Lighthouse Project and it serves as a means to make a positive impact on the lives of people in need.
Wilson said SCAMH serves about 80 clients each day at the center.
The Montezuma Center serves as home to SCAMH’s substance abuse adult outpatient clinic, Andalusia rehabilitative day program, Covington County Adult Training Center, First Step and crisis residential home.
