“It’s a unique group of ladies.”

That’s what City of Andalusia Adult Activities Center Program Coordinator Sonja Godwin said to describe the Unique Divas.

The Unique Divas is comprised of 16 ladies that meet once a month to go shopping, go on a trip or to a local restaurant. Once every quarter, the group takes a trip.

“They are very diversified,” Godwin said. “The group has different age groups.”

Among the destinations the divas go to include malls, thrift stores, and other fun spots.

Godwin said this is the second year for the group. Last year, 25 joined.

Godwin said the ladies plan the itinerary and she approves it.

“They discuss and vote on where they’d like to go, and what’s coming up,” she said.

Godwin said the name of the group came up when she was discussing it with the ladies.

“We were sitting here (at the AAC) discussing it, and said Divas Club, but we wanted something different,” she said. “They are such unique ladies in their own right. You wouldn’t picture all of them running in the same group, but they fit like a glove.”

Anyone woman over 21 can join the group. Cost is $25 to join.
