The Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce’s 10th annual Golf Classic will tee off on Mon., Aug. 24 at the Andalusia Country Club.
The classic tournament is the chamber’s largest fundraiser, AACC Executive Director Chrissie Duffy said.
“It’s a great way to show your support of the chamber and spend the afternoon or morning playing golf with your business associates in the community,” Duffy said.
There are two flights available for golfers at the tournament — a 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. flight. Cost to play is $100 for individual players and $300 per three-player team.
One of the tournament’s highlights includes a ball drop at noon, Duffy said.
The ball drop is one of many opportunities to win prizes. Sponsored by Advanced EMS one lucky person will win a Vizio 4K Ultra Smart HDTV and a chance at $50,000, Duffy said.
“We are selling numbered golf balls that we will drop out of a LifeLight helicopter on the day of the tournament,” she said. “The ball landing closest to the target wins a 4K Vizio 4K Ultra Smart HDTV given by the Chamber; and if the number matches the pre-determined winning number, that person will receive a check for $50,000.”
To enter the ball drop contest, each ball is $10. They can be purchased in advance at the chamber office or on the day of the tournament.
In addition to the already-established chances at winning prizes, a golfer will get a chance to win a brand new car for a hole in one, Duffy said.
Golfers will also get some nice gifts and prizes depending on how well they do in the tournament. First place in both the morning and afternoon flights will win $300 a team. Second place finishers in both flights will receive $150 per team.
The longest drive winner will receive $75, as will the person closest to the pin.
Duffy said registration forms for golf teams are available at the chamber office and Andalusia Country Club, and added that the chamber is still accepting sponsorships.
There are sponsorship packages available. The Eagle Sponsor package, which includes two 3-player teams, two hole sponsorships with signage, logo on banner at the event for $1,000. The Birdie Sponsor packet includes one three-player team, one hole sponsorship with signage for $500, and the Hole Sponsor gets one hole sponsorship with signage for $100.
Closest to the pin sponsor will receive hole signage for $200.
“We invite all members and potential members — even those who don’t play golf — to join us,” Duffy said. “We will have the ball drop at the end of lunch and it should be great fun.”
Duffy said this is the Chamber’s primary fundraiser.
“This is how we grow our operating budget to do more for our community and serve our members,” he said.
