Preparations are under way for next week’s Meredith’s Miracles fish fry and volunteers and baked goods are needed, Director Emily Yehling said.

Some 500 people are expected to be fed through the annual fundraiser.

Plates will include catfish, cheese grits, French fries, homemade cole slaw, homemade hush puppies, dessert and a drink.

Cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children under 12. Dinners are available for dine-in or carry out.

“The Peer Helpers will be helping us to sell the dinners,” Yehling said. “We need volunteers to help serve and put together to-go orders at the church, and we need bakers for our bake sale.”

Yehling said T-shirts are also on sale for $15 and a special Meredith’s Miracles Ornament is available for $10.

“When you purchase these two items, you are giving gas in the tank for a family with a sick child going out of town to see medical care for that child,” she said.

The event will be held Fri., Aug. 14, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

“We are trying to encourage people to come by, grab some food and help us raise money for a terrific cause,” she said.

“The goal of Meredith’s Miracles is to help families who have to leave this area to receive sub-specialty care that is not available locally with their non-medical related expenses,” Yehling said. “These expenses can be anything from food, car rentals, gas or lodging expenses.”
