With the deadline drawing near, there are still about 20 spots left for October’s Covington Region Honor Flight.

Organizers are looking specifically guardians to escort the World War II, Korea and Vietnam veterans.

CRHF chairman Greg White said there is also room for a few more veterans.

The program takes veterans, free of charge, to Washington, D.C., for the day, where they will visit sites such as the World War II memorial, Arlington National Cemetery and the Korean and Vietnam memorials.

“As always, our priority will be to transport any World War II veterans that have not previously traveled with us,” White said. “We will also fly Korean War and Vietnam era veterans on this trip.”

White said guardians are needed for the trip, and help escort the veterans throughout the trip.

The cost is $450.

Those going will leave from Andalusia between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. and will travel to Atlanta, where they will fly to Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Va.

Anyone interested in being a guardian is asked to contact White as soon as possible at 222-2907.
