If you have ever wanted to try yoga or if you are new to the practice and want to try a beginner’s class, there is a class for you today, Nov. 7 at 9:30 a.m. at The Yoga House. And, it’s free.

On the first Saturday in November and again on Dec. 5, there is a “First Saturday Free” beginner’s class being offered.

“I know coming to a yoga class for the first time is often easier if you know you aren’t the only one who is a beginner,” said Nancy Blackmon, RYT-200, who teaches the class. “I want to give folks an opportunity to see what yoga is all about in setting that is comfortable and welcoming.”

The Yoga House is located north of Andalusia on Heath/River Falls Road, about 2 miles west of Bethany Baptist Church. It sits at the corner of Heath/River Falls Road and Dutch and Nell Road.

“There are mats and yoga props available for students to use,” Blackmon said. “If you have a mat, it would be nice to bring it, but it’s not necessary to have one to take this class.”

The class will last an hour to one hour and 15 minutes and will focus on learning about yoga breathing, basic poses and experiencing deep relaxation at the close of class.

“It’s not a requirement to register for the class, but it would be nice to have an idea of how many might be interested,” Blackmon said. “I want to be sure we have adequate room.”
