Saints fall on the road

After getting off to a 4-0 start in conference play, the LBWCC Saints fell in two games to Alabama Southern on Wednesday.

 

ALABAMA SOUTHERN 4, LBWCC 0

In the opening game of the series, Alabama Southern jumped out front 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning and cruised to a 4-0 win.

The Saints did get a big day at the plate from center fielder Trey McMillian, who went 3-for-3 in the loss.

Taylor Fought picked up one hit in three at bats, and Kyle Mosley was the only other Saint to pick up a hit in the first game.

Jake Bracewell took the loss on the mound with eight hits, four runs and two strikeouts in six innings of work.

ALABAMA SOUTHERN 8, LBWCC 7

Alabama Southern once again jumped out front in the second game, when they plated three runs in the bottom of the first.

LBWCC picked up a run in the second and two runs in the third, but Alabama Southern bounced back with three runs in the bottom of the third.

The Saints weren’t giving up and rallied for three runs in the top of the final inning to tie the game 7-7, but Alabama Southern answered with a run in the bottom to give them an 8-7 victory.

Fought had a big game at the plate going 2-for-3 with a home run, double, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Brandon Cobb finished the game 2-for-4 with a run scored and Matthew Jones drove in two runs for the Saints.

McMillian finished 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs and one RBI.
