Saints sweep past Southern Union

The LBWCC Saints swept Southern Union Thursday night at home in a strong effort from both Saints’ squads.

LBWCC 65,

In the men’s game, the Saints picked up a home victory Thursday night as they held off Southern Union for a 65-62 win.

In the opening half, the Saints found a hot streak early and raced out to a 36-25 lead at halftime.

Southern Union came alive in the second half, and trimmed the deficit to single digits with just a few minutes left on the clock.

The Saints continued to battle and held off Southern Union in the final seconds for a 65-62 victory.

Hilton Roberts was a perfect 7-for-7 shooting for 14 points as he led the way for the Saints.

Landris Horton picked up 11 points and was 2-for-4 from downtown to help the Saints to victory.

Chancellor Lockert finished the night with 9 points.

Coming off the bench, Patrice Sarrazin contributed strong minutes for the Saints and ended the game with 6 points and 5 rebounds.

The Lady Saints got the evening started with a big 70-28 victory over Southern Union.

Both teams came out strong in the opening quarter, and it was the Lady Saints who held a 19-13 lead entering the second period.

In the second period, both teams struggled to get much going, but the Lady Saints held a 31-20 lead going into halftime.

The Lady Saints came surging out the gate with 21 points in the third peiod, held a 52-31 lead heading into the final frame.

LBWCC’s defense played lights out in the fourth period and limited Southern Union to 7 points in frame.

The Lady Saints tacked on 18 more points in the fourth to pick up a 70-38 win.
