Lady Saints split series with Alabama Southern

The LBWCC Lady Saints fell in the first game of the day, but pulled off a big win in game two to split Wednesday’s double header on the road against Alabama Southern.

ASCC 6

After falling in the first game, the Lady Saints used a big fifth inning to come away with a 12-6 victory over Alabama Southern.

Alabama Souther jumped out front 4-0 off several hits in the bottom of the first inning.

Paige Taylor scored on a passed ball in the top of the second inning for the first run of the game for the Lady Saints.

Tori Morgan scored on a double steal in the top of the third inning to cut the lead down to 4-2.

The Lady Saints continued to chip away at the lead when Summer Simmons ripped a RBI double in to the left field to make it 4-3.

Taylor Bethea put the Lady Saints ahead in the top of the fifth inning with a one-out single to center that scored Ashley Elmore and Jessica Callaway.

A line-drive single from Simmons then put the Lady Saints on top 7-4.

Cincotta continued to pour it on as she roped a single to left give the Lady Saints a 9-4 advantage.

The Lady Saints added two more runs in the top of the seventh off of a single from Dickson and an error off the bat of Elmore.

LBWCC 1

In the opening game of the series, Alabama Southern grabbed an early lead and held on for a 9-1 victory.

Elmore reached on a two-out single in the fifth and scored off of an error.
