Lady Saints pick up big victory

The LBWCC Lady Saints’ softball team used two pitchers to shut down Southern Blast 5-0 Sunday in fall exhibition game.
Alexis Wyatt got the start on the bump and picked up a ground out and a pair of strikeouts.
In the bottom of the first inning, Jessica Dickson got things started with a single to center field.
Dickson stole second and then moved up to third on fielder’s choice from Anna Elmore.
Mariah Frey drew a walk to give the Lady Saints runners on the corners and then a double steal led to Dickson scoring the first run of the game.
In the top of the second, Wyatt worked around a leadoff work as he picked up two more strikeouts and kept Southern Blast off the board.
Ashlyn McKeown picked up a one-out single in the bottom of the second and moved to second on a sacrifice hit from Wyatt.
McKeown then stole third and home to put the Lady Saints on top 2-0.
Southern Blast got three-straight singles during the top of the fourth inning, but Wyatt once again kept them off the scoreboard.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Dickson got his third single of the game and then came around to score on steal of home to put the Lady Saints up 3-0.
Stocker Kailah came in for Wyatt in the top of the fifth inning and struck out the first batter he faced.
Southern Blast then got three-straight singles, but Kailah didn’t allow them to cross the plate.
Katelynn Shiver got a double to start the bottom of the fifth inning and then came around to score off a double from Lindsey Fox.
A few batters later, Fox stole home to put the Saints up 5-0 heading in the sixth inning.
