Rain didn’t stop (all of) the show

Despite rain and an approaching hurricane, the Andalusia High School Band Boosters held an abbreviated version of its A-Town Invitational marching contest on Saturday. Originally, 26 bands were scheduled to perform in the 12TH annual event, but many bands cancelled, and others performed early in an effort to get everyone home before the storm hit. The timing of evening rains prevented both the AHS Sound Tradition’s exhibition performance, and the traditional awards ceremony.
Nonetheless, local high schools participating did well.
Straughn’s band, danceline, majorettes, and drum major all earned best in Class 2A. Opp High School (shown) received all superior ratings.
