The Straughn High School Sound of Gold Marching Band represented Covington County schools on Sat., Oct. 14, at the Southern Showcase Competition held in Dothan.
The band received superior ratings in all categories: drum major, dance line, majorettes, color guard, and band.
“I am very proud of all the students. These students are determined to do the very best, every time they practice and perform,” band director, Will Parker said, “We received some of the highest scores that we have ever had this past week, all credit goes to the students. We are a very young group, but this has not stopped these students from putting on a fantastic show and are getting recognized for their hard work and effort.”
The Straughn High School Sound of Gold Marching Band will also perform this Sat., Oct. 21, at 2:45 at Little Big Horn, hosted by Opp High School.
