A new deli has made its way to the Carolina community.

The deli is located inside the former Carolina Grocery, which is owned by Robin and Melvin Fleming.

 

The pair originally also purchased the former Hart’s Grocery in December, which already had a very successful deli.

The two stores have been renamed to “Our Country Store”.

“We originally decided to purchase Hart’s Grocery because my job offshore wasn’t as solid as it used to be,” Melvin said, “I thought I was going to get laid off,”

“It was a tough time, and we did a lot of praying,” Robin said.

The couple had no experience in managing a store, but quickly caught on.

“It was overwhelming at first, but after some time, we got the hang of it,” Robin said.

After seeing the success from Hart’s Grocery, the Flemings decided they wanted to branch out.

“I have a lot of background in working at a store, and owning one was something I’ve always thought of, but never actually did,” Robin said.

Since the middle of September, the Flemings have been remodeling Carolina Grocery to have: a kitchen, an extra room, and a dining bar for customers of the deli.

“Look forward to more exciting changes,” Melvin said.

The deli serves home style cooking.

Our Country Store on Highway 29 is open from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Saturday, with the deli open from 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Our Country Store on Antioch Road is open from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday- Saturday, with the deli open from 5:30 to 2 p.m.
