Thomasson elected president

Members of the Covington County Board of Education elected a new board president and vice president on Tuesday.
Board member Sonny Thomasson was elected president, with Jimmy Prestwood as the vice president.
Jimmy Rodgers has served the last two years as president.
Thomasson, a retired educator, was elected in 2012. He served 18 of his 36 years in education as a principal at Straughn High School.
Prestwood is a longtime board member, and was most recently elected in 2014. He also was basketball coach and educator at Red Level.
