Members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society received a donation of food on Monday from Fed Ex Ground hub out of Evergreen.
“We try to give food to various organizations every year as a part of our community outreach,” Senior Manager Josh Adkisson said.
“We received the donation last year as well, and it really helped out when it came down to handing out food. We almost ran out without their contribution,” Tommie Powers, St. Vincent de Paul’s president, said.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society is an charitable organization out of Christ the King Catholic Church that is dedicated to serving the poor.
The organization itself hands out about 2,000 pounds of food each month, on the second and fourth Monday of each month from 9-11 a.m. and 2-3 p.m.
