New manager loves Andalusia’s hometown feel
A new manager of Winn Dixie loves Andalusia’s unique hometown feel.
Allen Gilmore, 38, has worked 10 years for Winn Dixie, spending most of the time in Montgomery as a merchandising manager before coming to Andalusia’s Winn Dixie to become the customer service manager.
Gilmore has been at the Andalusia location for almost three months.
“Going from a merchandising manager to a customer service is a little bit of a change,” Gilmore said. “Before, merchandise was a priority, and I dealt with the associates more. Now, my main focus is the customers.”
Gilmore likes the small-town feel that Andalusia has compared to Montgomery.
“What really stands out to me is how unified Andalusia is, especially during the semi-finals. All the local businesses that came together for the team,” Gilmore said.
“Andalusia is a great town. I love working here.”
The one-on-one connection makes Andalusia unique, Gilmore said.
“This is a hometown, everyone knows you,” Gilmore said.
Chantz Robertson, the merchandising manager of Winn Dixie as well as Gilmore’s coworker, said Gilmore makes the store a fun and friendly atmosphere.
Gilmore is an Elba native who lives in Brantley.
He enjoys fishing, golfing and reading in his spare time.
“Our customers are more than a checking account or debit card here at Winn Dixie,” Gilmore said. “That’s what stands out about our grocery store.”
