A DeFuniak Springs man was shot in the right leg on Dec. 31, 2017, at 1:10 p.m. on Hardin Street in Opp.

John Patrick Burrell, 21, was transported to Opp Mizell Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The incident is suspected as a burglary attempt, which had taken place on Hardin Street Sports Complex, according to the Opp Police Department.

Investigations are still ongoing, and no arrests have been made. The Star-News will update as more information becomes available.
