The Opp City Council met for 30 minutes in a closed session before unanimously deciding on a contractor to build a stand-alone addition for their spec building currently occupied by Global Manufacturing.

The addition will be built by Diversified General Contractors, which submitted the low bid of $142,725.

The money for the addition will be transferred from the general funds to the industrial authority account.

The opposing bidder was Catrett Construction, who bid $177,000.

Mayor Becky Bracke said that the spec building is in need of bathrooms, a conference room and office spaces.

“The reason we are doing this addition is because Global is expanding and they are in need of this space,” Bracke said.
