The Opp City Council met on Monday night to discuss a number of things.
During the meeting, the council approved an off-premise beer license for Caroline’s Country Store number four as well as the replacement of an engine for a patrol car.
The patrol car is a 2015 with about 69,000 miles, council members said.
“General Motors has offered to pay $3,000 of the $9,000 we need to replace the motor,” Mayor Becky Bracke said.
“We will only have to pay $6,000.”
The next order of business was discussing whether or not Opp would be better off buying the current garbage truck that is leased or lease a new garbage truck.
“Our lease is up in October,” Bracke said.
The garbage truck is a 2015 and will be $114,000 to purchase.
To lease a new garbage truck, the payments would be more.
The council decided to research which option would be better and decide on a later date.
The council also made surplus of 12 police radios.
