Shoplifting leads to drug charges

On Sunday night, a resident of Opp stole items and fled from a convenience store, only to be found shortly after by Opp police officers.

Philip M. Desch, 41, was seen by a citizen stuffing his pockets full of items while inside the Hobo Pantry.

The citizen told police that Desch fled from the store and ran down Danley Street.

Police officers detained Desch and after further investigation they found that he was also in possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.

Desch was arrested for theft of property fourth degree, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
