Comfort Care Hospice is hosting its annual butterfly release next weekend to remember lost loved ones.
“Butterflies and Bluegrass is a wonderful event that hopefully gives those who lost loved ones in hospice a piece of mind,” Vicki Wacaster said.
“We’re expecting to have around 150 people this year,” she said.
The event is meant to be a way to remember those who have passed away and have fellowship with others who experienced the same.
“There’s always laughter, stories, tears and lots of hugs with people who understand what it’s like to lose a loved one,” Wacaster said.
“It’s just a beautiful thing.”
The event will be held in Kilpatrick Park.
“We’re going to have a picnic lunch with live music from the Straughn Spring Band and the LBWCC Ensemble,” Wacaster said.
The picnic lunch will be provided by Steamboat.
While the event is specifically for those who lost loved ones while in hospice care, Wacaster says it’s open to the public.
“We’re releasing more than 200 butterflies this year.”
The event will be on May 5 at 10 a.m.
Wacaster also said the event is fun for children, with a spacewalk and face painting.
