A normal traffic stop in Opp resulted in the arrest of a fugitive from Florida.

Randall Pruett Stephens, 48, was wanted as a fugitive from justice out of Leon County, Fla.

An agent initiated the traffic stop with the 22nd Drug Task Force at around 9:10 a.m. Friday morning on East Cummings Avenue. The officer said that the vehicle abruptly slowed down while he was driving it.

When the officer got identification from the driver and passenger of the vehicle, he discovered that Stephens was wanted on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

The agent and OPD officers took Stephens into custody and he is pending extradition by the State of Florida.
