The Opp Board of Education on Thursday moved closer to having teachers and support personnel in place for the 2018-19 school year.

After meeting in closed session for 10 minutes to discuss “good name and character,” the board approved the following personnel actions:

• Hired Geneva Phillips, as the secretary of Opp Elementary School.
• Hired Megan Bowen, as special education paraprofessional of Opp Elementary School.
• Hired Cynthia Alverson, as assistant principal of Opp High School.
• Hired Heather Williams, as a math teacher at Opp Middle School.
• Hired Renee Donaldson as a math teacher at Opp Middle School.
• Hired Robin Spurlin as a teacher at Opp Middle School.
• Accepted the resignation of Kari Biggs Skipper, teacher at Opp Middle School.
• Transferred Robin James from special education aide of Opp High School to special education aide of Opp Elementary School.
• Transferred John Donaldson from Opp High School teacher to Opp Middle School teacher.
• Transferred Chad Johnson from Opp Middle School teacher to Opp High School teacher.
• Transferred Kerri Young from Opp Middle School teacher to Opp High School teacher.
