The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs picked up a big 52-21 victory over the McKenzie Lady Tigers on Thursday morning in the opening round of the 21st annual Red Level High School Christmas Tournament.

McKenzie came out strong and opened up an 8-0 lead after knocking down back-to-back 3-pointers.

Shalisa Thomas put the Lady Bulldogs on the board when she dropped in a layup.

That score put the Lady Bulldogs on a roll as they surged to a 12-8 lead at the end of the first period.

Thomas had six points in the first period to lead the way for the Lady Bulldogs.

Eryanna Sheridan opened up the scoring in the second period after picking up a layup off of an assist from Katie Black.

The Lady Bulldogs continued their attack as Black hit a layup to put Andalusia up 20-9.

At halftime, Andalusia was on top 25-15.

In the third period, Andalusia came storming out and built a huge lead over the Lady Tigers.

Thomas was on fire as she picked up nine points in the third period to help give Andalusia a 46-21 lead heading into the final period.

Thomas came in big in the fourth period with four more points to help guide the Lady Bulldogs to a 52-21 victory.

Thomas led the Lady Bulldogs with 25 points.

“We came out slow, and that happens in a 9 a.m., game,” Andalusia head coach Harrison Mims said. “Other than that, I felt like the girls jumped into the strategy real well and played aggressive-downhill basketball. We’ve got to focused, stay humble and trust the process.”

Mims said he was pleased with the way the Lady Bulldogs moved the ball.

“Ball movement,” Mims said when asked what stood out to him in the win. “We moved the ball real well. The girls were looking down the court, making good passes and not a whole lot of mistakes and turnovers.”

Andalusia will play T.R. Miller tonight at 6 p.m.
