Southside to host women’s conference

Southside Baptist Church is hosting the “All Things New” Women’s Conference on Sat., Jan. 12, 2019. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. The conference will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 2 p.m.
Kim Thweatt will be speaking and leading worship along with the First Baptist Church Pell City Contemporary Band. Thweatt is known for her passion for Jesus as she sings, teaches, and speaks God’s Word.
The conference, which includes lunch, cost $10. Tickets are available at the Southside Baptist Church Office at 1213 W. Bypass. The scripture theme of the conference comes from 2 Corinthians 5:7, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Thweatt is the wife of Dr. John Thweatt of First Baptist Church Pell City, Alabama. Together, they have four girls: Hannah (22), Hope (20), Hollie (18) and Kimberly Joy (14). Kim and John have been married for 25 years.
She graduated from Samford University in 1991 with a Bachelor Degree in Music and holds a Master’s Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
She is the teacher of the Women of the Word (WOW) Sunday school class, which is made up of ladies ranging from ages 20 – 80. She has been leading this class for 17 years. She also facilitates several women’s Bible studies throughout the week. Kim treasures every opportunity to mentor ladies and lead them closer to the Lord. She has a great passion for sharing Christ in her teaching ministry.
Along with Bible studies and Sunday school, Kim has been the worship leader for First Baptist Contemporary service for the past 12 years. With her love of singing and her love for the Lord, she has grown the worship team from a few members to a full band ensemble.
