Wilson homers in first college game

Andalusia graduate Ethan Wilson had a big impact in his first college game with South Alabama on Friday afternoon against the No. 19-ranked Clemson Tigers, but the Jaguars were beaten 6-2.

In his second at bat of the day, Wilson laced an 0-1 pitch over the wall in left field for an opposite field home run.

It was Wilson’s first career college hit, run, RBI and home run.

Wilson’s home run put South Alabama up 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning.

One batter later, Wells Davis crushed a home run to straight away center to put South Alabama up 2-0.

In the bottom of the fifth inning. Clemson took the lead when Davidson smashed a 3-run home run.

Wilson picked up his second hit of the game in the top of the sixth inning when a hit down the third base line. Wilson attempted to swipe second with one out, but he was thrown out for the second out of the inning.

In the top of the eighth inning, Wilson came through again with a single up the middle with two outs as the Jaguars trailed 4-2.

Clemson added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Wilson led all hitters with a 3-for-4 day including a home run and two singles.
