Andy Bulldogs ready for round 1

The Andalusia Bulldogs look to start the playoff season strong as they are set to host the Faith Academy Rams tonight for the first round of the Class 4A-5A soccer state tournament in Andalusia.

Andalusia enters the state tournament on a hot streak.

The Bulldogs have won seven-straight games to bring their record to 11-2-1.

Since falling to Montgomery Catholic 3-0 on Feb. 22, the Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 51-5.

During the seven-game win streak, the Bulldogs have picked up four shutouts and only Carroll High School has scored more than one goal on Andalusia during that span.

Andalusia finished area play 6-0.

The Bulldogs competed in an area with Greenville, Carroll and Charles Henderson.

Andalusia gave up just five goals during six area games.

Andalusia scored 32 goals during area play.

Faith Academy comes into the playoffs with an 8-8-1 record.

Faith Academy lost the first three games of the year to Gulf Shores, Sylacauga and St. Luke’s before getting their first win of the year against Cottage Hill Christian Academy.

The Rams competed in area play with UMS-Wright, Satsuma, LeFlore Magnet and Vigor.

Faith Academy lost its series with UMS-Wright, split with Satsuma and beat the rest 2-0.

This will be the third meeting in the past four years between Andalusia and Faith Academy in the opening round of the playoffs.

Faith Academy won the first meeting in 2016, but the Bulldogs came away victorious in last year.

Tonight’s game is set to begin at 6 p.m. Prior to the game at 5:45 the Bulldogs will recognize their senior players.
