Lady Bobcats fall to Geneva

The Geneva Lady Panthers needed extra innings to knock off the Opp Lady Bobcats 6-5 in the second round the Class 3A, Area 3 tournament in Geneva on Thursday.

Opp scored first when McKinley Hill scored off of an error in the top of the third.

Graceanne Spears struck out the side in order for the Lady Bobcats in the bottom of the third inning.

Geneva battled back and tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Braya Hodges drew a walk to start the top of the sixth inning moved to second a single from Spears.

Allie Wismer came into run for Hodges.

Wismer came around to score on a single from Makenna McDonnell to give the Lady Bobcats a 2-1 lead.

Geneva answered back in the bottom of the sixth inning and took a 3-2 lead.

Opp’s first batter in the top of the seventh grounded out for the first out.

Cassadi Adams got things going with a one-out single.

Hodges kept the game alive when she was hit by a pitch with two outs.

Spears then cranked a home run to put Opp on top 5-3.

Geneva bounced back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.

The Lady Panthers finished off the game with a run in the bottom of the eighth.
