The Florala Wildcats (3-3, 1-2) look for another big region win when they travel to Red Level on Friday to take on the Tigers (1-4, 0-3).
“We get back into region play this week and I want to see us play four quarters of football,” Florala head coach Toby Greene said. “I felt like we played three really good quarters last week, but we didn’t play four. I want to see that this week.”
Playing against a rival is always a tough challenge, Greene said.
“They are a team that is getting better each week,” Greene said. “They got a win last week so I think they will come in with confidence. They have a really good quarterback that is the key to their offense. With this being a county rivalry game, you know you can pretty much throw out the records. I know we can expect their best.”
Greene said that his team is also playing with a lot of confidence.
“It’s been hot, but we have had a good week of practice,” Greene said. “The kids have had a little more pep in their step after a hard-fought win like last week. They know these next four region games are very important. They know these games are very important for playoffs.”
Greene said the team has to be focused and prepared when taking on Red Level.
“We have to make sure we have a good game plan for their quarterback,” Greene said. “On offense, we have to keep working on eliminating penalties and turnovers. We have to continue to take care of ourselves. We have to keep improving. There is still a lot of football left and the teams we are playing are going to keep improving.”
Last week, Florala had to switch up quarterbacks due to an injury.
“Rashaad (Coleman) was a little banged up so we swapped up him and Logan (West),” Greene said. “Logan really stepped up and accounted for six touchdowns. I expect to see a mix both of them this week.”
If Florala wins on Friday, it will be Greene’s 100th career victory.
Florala and Red Level are set for a 7 p.m., kickoff in Red Level.
