The Pleasant Home Eagles brought home the first victory for first-year head coach Jeremy Silcox Friday night, defeating Georgiana 26-20 in five overtimes.

The victory evens the Eagles’ record at 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the region.

It was a special win for Silcox.

“It was a really hard-fought game by both teams … one of those games where you hate to see somebody lose. But, I’m really proud of our guys. They fought hard and it was a really special win for our school. We have a lot of young kids who are playing football for the first time. I’m really excited about this group and the future of our program,” Silcox said.

The Eagles racked up 421 yards of offense. Ethan Curry had a stellar night with 62 yards rushing, 54 yards receiving and a touchdown, and a 4-yard touchdown pass.

Silcox said PHS had a number of guys shine on the defensive side of the ball. Colt Hinson had 21 tackles and Landon Kelley had 9 tackles. Ladarius Purifoy and Nick Short each had two interceptions while Ty Clark also added an interception. Jordan Davis had a fumble recovery for 66 yards.

Pleasant Home will get a shot to record their second region win next week when they host Samson.
