Andalusia vs. Highland Home
The Andalusia Bulldogs posted a comeback victory over Highland Home on Friday night, 56-52.

Tyler Siger sparked the Bulldog offense with 17 points in the final period to overcome a nine-point deficit.

Scoring was scarce in the first period as Andalusia took an early 8-7 edge after one period. C.J. Likely and Xavier Housel each hit buckets in the first period with Tyler Siger and Tevin Siger contributing a total of three free throws.

In the second period, the Bulldogs held on to a slim lead with two three-pointers — one by Noah Curry and another by Laeton Smith — and four points by Housel. At the half, Andalusia was holding a three-point lead, 21-18.

The Bulldog’s lead evaporated in the third period as Highland Home came out swinging and outscored Andalusia 21-9 to take a nine-point lead into the fourth, 39-30.

Highland Home kept Andalusia at a distance through much of the fourth, holding an eight-point edge with only 3:17 remaining in the game. A three-pointer by Tyler Siger just inside of the three-minute mark cut into the Flying Squadron’s lead and got the Bulldog offense going. With 1:56 remaining, the Bulldogs tied the game at 47-47.

The game was tied at 50-50 with only 1:11 to go. A few free throws by Tyler Siger and Cadariyus Love would help to seal the four-point victory for the Bulldogs.

Tyler Siger led the Bulldogs with 25 points. Tevin Siger added nine points and Likely finished with six points.

Andalusia (1-0) will travel Thursday, Dec. 7, to the Georgiana Christmas Tournament where they are scheduled to take on Greenville at 5 p.m.

Lady Bulldogs
The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs tried to pull off a huge comeback late against Highland Home, but their slow start on offense proved too much to overcome, falling to the Lady Squadron, 42-37.

Highland Home came out strong and quickly jumped out to a big lead over the Lady Bulldogs, 21-4.

Things started to even out in the second period and Andalusia benefitted from strong free-throw shooting, sinking seven in the period. At the end of the first half the Lady Bulldogs were looking at a big hill to climb, down to Highland Home 30-11.

The home team began to get on track after the half, outscoring the Lady Squadron 12-8. Kionni Wright helped lead the charge, scoring six in the period with Jaidyn Berry contributing four points. After the third, the Lady Bulldogs were still down 38-23.

The ladies saved their best period — both offensively and defensive — for the end. Led again by Wright with scoring support from Kamari Gay, the Lady Bulldogs scored 14 points down the stretch while holding Highland Home to only four in the final period. But, time ran out on the comeback with the Lady Bulldogs on the short end of a 42-37 score.

Leading the Lady Bulldogs was Wright who finished with 18 points. Gay finished the night with eight points. Berry chipped in four points while Kelsie Horwath chipped in two points.

The Lady Bulldogs (0-1) will participate in the Georgiana Christmas Tournament with the first game scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 7, 3:30 p.m., against Greenville.
