Those looking for some clean, family fun this weekend, should ride on over to the God Is Faithful Ministries’ professional bull riding and barrel race event this weekend.

God Is Faithful Ministries and Blessed Bucking Bulls, based in Bonifay, Fla., hosts several professional Christian bull riding and rodeos throughout the year in the Southeast.

“People love bull riding,” God Is Faithful Ministries pastor and president Jerrod Jenkins said. “We’ve tried to take something that people love and at the same time, create a clean, family environment for the family to come and enjoy themselves.

“A lot of places you go to today, you have to cover the kids’ ears, or whatever,” he said. “It’s hard to find good, clean family fun (these days).”

This will be the first time God Is Faithful Ministries will present a bull riding and barrel racing event in Andalusia. Jenkins said they heard about the town through the Tisdale family.

The event, which begins on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Covington Center Arena, will include some of the top bull riders and barrel racers in the Southeast. On Friday, some of the blessed bulls from the God Is Faithful Ministries will be available to see live at Touch of Country from noon until 2 p.m. Additionally, there will be events for kids, where they can race for an opportunity to win money and prizes, Jenkins said.

Jenkins is no stranger to a rodeo.

For 10 years, he participated in rodeos, but threw it away due to a meth addiction.

“The Lord saved me through the meth addiction nine years ago and He allows me to today be a part of rodeoing and riding bulls,” he said. “but at the same time sharing what God’s brought me through. That’s kind of what we do. We reach out to the younger crowd also with the sheep riding and junior bull riding (for kids), along with our professional bull riding.”

Bulls for the weekend Christian event also come from Blessed Bucking Bulls by the God Is Faithful Ministries.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $8 for kids under 12 years old. Kids 5 and under get in free.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the God Is Faithful Ministries and the Civitan Club of Andalusia.

Jenkins said most importantly that this rodeo and bull riding event offers an opportunity to share the Gospel.

“That’s why we do what we do is to share the Gospel,” he said. “And, at the same time, sharing it in a different avanue instead of being behind a pulpit at a church.”
