An Opp man is in jail after he allegedly beat his common-law brother-in-law in the head with a cinder block.

Deputies were called to Mizell Memorial Hospital in reference to a past tense domestic incident that occurred on Charolais Road, near Opp on Monday.

As a result, Jody Warren Hend-erson, 39, is now charged with second-degree domestic violence/assault and violation of probation.

“When deputies arrived, they found the victim had apparently been involved in a fight with another person, which was later identified as Mr. Henderson,” the Covington County Sheriff’s Office released Wednesday.

An investigation into the situation at the residence determined that the two allegedly engaged in a “physical altercation that got very physical,” and that “Henderson had struck the victim on the head with a portion of a cinder block.”

The victim, who was not identified, was transported to the hospital with an assortment of injuries, treated and released.

Henderson is currently being held in the Covington County Jail without bond.
