Four Saints scored in double figures in LBWCC’s 73-62 conference win over Wallace-Selma tonight in Andalusia.

The Saints led 40-29 at halftime, thanks to a helpful serving of free throws and drives to the bucket. LBWCC was 8-of-9 from the free-throw line in the first half.

Malcolm Snyder led LBW with 21 points. Kyser Irby and Kenny Green had 12 points each, and Jamicheal Loften chipped in 10 points.

The Saints held a 71-51 lead with 3:21 left in the game.

Instead of holding the ball and letting the clock run down, the Saints allowed Wallace-Selma to end the game on a 11-2 run.

LBWCC coach Ricky Knight said free throws, in which his team was 18-of-25 for the night, as small compared to a real problem the players seemed to have.

“We didn’t play under control,” Knight said. “We need to play under control to be able to play with the teams up north.”

With the win, LBWCC improves to 7-16 overall, and 5-8 in the ACCC South.

Right now, the Saints are vying for a top seed leading into March’s conference tournament in Tuscaloosa.

Conference standings will be finalized after this week.

Bilal Richardson led Wallace-Selma with 15 points. Henry Pressley chipped in 12 points and Garrison Webb added 11.

LBWCC also picked up a win in women’s action tonight, where the Lady Saints beat Wallace-Selma 56-43.

Shauntal Byrd led LBWCC with 16 points. Kim Williams chipped in 15.

The Lady Saints led 27-16 at halftime.

Jameshia Caver led Wallace-Selma with 21 points.

The Saints will be back in action on Thursday at Alabama Southern in Monroeville.
