An Andalusia couple is behind bars after a home visit by welfare officials and Drug Task Force agents revealed an active meth cook inside the home’s kitchen.

DTF Commander Mark Odom said Stacy Ann Lee, 38, and Joseph Bryan Lee, 35, are facing charges of drug trafficking, unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance I and felony possession of drug paraphernalia.

“While assisting (Department of Human Resource) workers with a home visit, DTF Agents Mitch Scofield and Greg Jackson noticed the odor they associate with methamphetamine,” Odom said. “Stacy Ann Lee told the agents that there was a bag inside the residence that contained materials used in the production of methamphetamine. She also admitted that there was finished product methamphetamine and an active cook in progress inside the residence.”

Odom said agents found finished product meth, along with several items used its manufacturing, as well as a clear plastic bottle containing a bi-layered substance agents associate with meth oil. In the kitchen of the residence, agents located the active methamphetamine lab, he said.

“We are seeing an increase in the prevalence of methamphetamine once more in Covington County,” he said. “With this increase, the safety of our residents becomes an issue. These labs are dangerous, and meth addicts not only put themselves in danger, but (also) everyone in proximity to their activities.

“I could not be more serious when I say that we have zero tolerance for this hazardous drug,” Odom said.

Each was arrested and booked into the Covington County Jail on a $550,000 bond.
