Police are being tight-lipped about an early Thursday morning traffic accident that claimed the life of a Covington County man.

Those close to the investigation identified the man as Jason Grace, a medical courier for an Andalusia medical lab. Grace died when his vehicle struck an 18-wheeler at approximately 4:30 a.m. west of I-65, near the Evergreen Airport on U.S. Hwy. 84.

Media sources said Friday the 18-wheeler was attempting to turn around in the roadway when Grace’s vehicle struck it in the rear.

Detective Ellis with the Evergreen Police Department declined to comment about the ongoing investigation, stating the EPD will release details Monday.
