The bags are unpacked and the schedule has been double-checked. So what is there to do for families in town with the 2013 Babe Ruth 16-18 World Series?

If you’ve got 30 minutes to spare:

• Grab a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie, a yogurt from Yo’ Craving or a Dilly Bar from the Dairy Queen and head to the park. Andalusia has three – Robinson Park, the Miracle League playground for special needs children at Johnson Park and the Dream Park at the LBWCC campus.

If you’ve got an hour:

• Visit the Three Notch Museum, located on historical Central Street, and see what life was like in the south in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Learn about county and state history while touring a restored post office and log cabin. Free admission, weekday mornings.

• Get your shopping on. Andalusia is home to unique shopping experiences from boutiques to chain department stores.

For those who like to antique, there are shops such as Three Notch Emporium near the Court Square, Picket Fence on Hillcrest Drive, or Sweetgum Bottom Antiques, located just outside the city limits on Straughn School Road.

When you find yourself with two or more hours to spend:

• Get your movie on: Clark Cinemas, located on the Court Square, features nightly shows at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., with 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday and Sunday.

• Flame the competitive spirit with a game or two at Striker’s – Andalusia’s newly remodeled bowling alley. Located on the West By-Pass, the alley features nightly and weekend specials.

• Visit the lake that sits in two states – Florala’s Lake Jackson. This state park features a wonderful swimming area and a wetlands park. Drive time: 30 minutes. Stay as long as you like. Be sure to stop and get your picture made by the building covered in the work of famous folk artist Woodie Long.

• Drive over to Opp and walk the trail at Lake Frank Jackson. Drive time: 15 minutes.

Half day or more

If you’ve got a half a day to spare, you can be on the white sandy shores of a Gulf Coast beach in an hour and a half. In Destin, Fla., one can find shopping experiences galore, along with theme parks, golf courses and water parks.
