It’s a busy Saturday around Andalusia, with the area as the host of multiple events.

Streetrods car show

From 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., the Andalusia Classics and Streetrods will host its 9th annual family fun day at the Kiwanis Center. There is a $2 general admission fee. On hand will be multiple arts and crafts vendors and more than 100 of “the finest automobiles around,” said organizer Ronnie Kilgore.

Doggie Dash

Animal lovers shouldn’t forget the Andalusia Area Humane Society’s ninth annual “Deep South Doggie Dash and Strut Your Mutt Walk” today at Robinson Park on Church Street.

This is a dog-friendly, family event. Anyone can participate as long as they can properly handle their dog. AAHS organizers do ask that people only bring dogs that are friendly, leashed and current on vaccinations.

All events are included in the $20 registration fee and all Doggie Dash participants will receive an event T-shirt, a fall photo with their pet and a goody bag filled with useful things for people and dogs. Kids and dog race age groups are: 4 and under; 5 to 7; 8 to 10, and 11 to 13.

Event day registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

Bake sale

Also, a benefit bake sale for Kennedy Cleghorn, a Pleasant Home student battling ovarian cancer, will be held at the Andalusia Maurices store beginning at 10 a.m. and lasting until “every crumb is sold.”

And then there’s football

Alabama kicks off at 2:30 p.m. against Texas A&M (CBS), while Auburn plays Mississippi State at 7 (ESPN2).
