Area bands bring ‘A-games’ to A-Town

The stands were filled at Saturday’s A-Town Invitational – the annual band competition sponsored by the Andalusia High School marching band. Sixteen bands competed for top marks, while exhibition performances were given by the AHS and The University of South Alabama bands.

Overall grand champions went to Daleville High School, first place; W.S. Neal High School for second place, and Rehobeth High School for third place.

Winners are as follows in:

• Class 1A: Florala High School took home the best in class honors in the band, majorette, color guard and percussion divisions, while Headland High School won with its dance line. Best in class drum major went to Red Level High School.

• Class 2A: Rehobeth took home the best in class honors in the band, percussion and color guard divisions, while Flomaton won for its drum major. Opp High School’s majorettes also scored best in class for their division.

• Class 3A: W.S. Neal won best in class in the band, majorettes, percussion and color guard division, while Elba scored for its drum major and dance line.

• Class 4A: Daleville won straight across the board in best in class for its drum major, majorettes, color guard, dance line, percussion and band.

Also competing during the afternoon were high schools from Luverne, Brantley, Flomaton, Escambia and Highland Home.
