For the last five years, Comfort Care Hospice has honored those who make a difference in the community. This year was no different as five were celebrated at the company’s caregiver awards luncheon at the Andalusia Country Club.

Special remarks and entertainment were provided by inspirational artist and author Janet Paschal.

Award winners included: Ed May, the commitment to clinical excellence winner: the Pilot Club of Andalusia for its Project Lifesaver program, which earned the club CCH’s community service award; Janet Brantley, the Monica Chambers Compassionate Service award; and

Andalusia Manor, the partnership in caring award.

A fifth award was created and given honoring Paschal’s service to CCH patients. CCH administrator Mitzi Butler said the new award will be called the Janet Paschal Compassionate Action Award.

Butler said that the company wanted to recognize Paschal for a visit last year to a dying patient who’d asked for the Christian artist to play at her funeral. Paschal traveled to Andalusia prior to the patient’s passing.
