Summer feeding program offered

To help promote healthy eating during the summer months, children under the age of 18 can receive a free breakfast and lunch at Andalusia Elementary School specified weekdays through July 24.

Stephanie Dillard, child nutrition director for the city’s school system, said the meals are under way.

“This is a free nutritious meal for any child,” she said. “The only thing we ask is that groups, such as camps and Bible schools, call and give us a total estimate of the number of children that will be eating lunch each day.”

The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
