Without hesitation, six Andalusia Elementary third graders made it known where they’d like to spend spring break if the destination weren’t an obstacle.

Yesterday, city and county school systems let out for the spring holiday sparking many mini vacations to family-favorite haunts.

Brunson Wilson said he’d like to go to Big Kahuna’s Water and Adventure Park in Destin, Fla.

“It’s just really fun,” Wilson said. “The slides and the food is really good.”

Wilson said he’s no stranger to Big Kahuna’s, adding that he’s been there a few times already.

Those who are traveling west along Interstate 10 will run right into Gracie Grissom’s chosen destination.

“Texas,” Grissom said with a smile. “The rest of my family is there.”

Grissom moved to Andalusia last year, and she said she’d like to visit the water parks.

While Wilson and Grissom will have fun at their respective water parks, Brody Lee said he wants to visit a zoo.

“Because my grandmother said they made this thing where you can sit on a seat and go up above the zoo and see it,” Lee said.

Lee said he thinks he’s been to the Montgomery Zoo and not the New Orleans Zoo.

Lee said he loves animals, especially the lion because it’s big and strong.

Pack your denim, flannel, a rod and reel because Eric Martin said he wants to go to Montana to go fly fishing with his father, Joel.

“I just want to go there,” Martin said. “I’ve never fly fished, but my dad showed me how.”

Martin said he pictures himself standing in a stream with the mountains surrounding him as he casts the perfect fly for trout.

Madyson Mullen also wants to go to a similar venue in the mountains, but a little closer to home.

“Just Tennessee,” she said, adding that she’s always loved the mountains.

George Brooks said the beach is that way — in Gulf Shores.

“I am going this week,” Brooks said.

Students will return to school on April 6.
