Super hero fans, get ready.

The Andalusia Public Library is gearing up for its annual summer reading program and this year’s theme is Super Heroes.

“Each Thursday afternoon in June, Andalusia Public Library is filled with loud, excited and anxious-to-read children,” said APL children’s librarian Caryl Lee Ray. “Our summer reading program attracts more children each year.”

The summer program draws hundreds of children.

This year’s program kicks off June 4 with a balloon release and a program from the McWane Science Center.

The June 11 program will feature facepainting and Starshine faces; the June 18 program includes Skip the Magic Guy. Participants are invited to wear their own super hero costumes and pictures will be made with a super hero.

June 25’s program will include TomFoolery.

Programs begin at 3 p.m., each week.
