It’s a spirit-filled week at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College.

Marketing Director Renee LeMaire said that this week is Spirit Week.

“It’s what we used to call Blue/White Day, but they’ve added events through the week and now it has become Spirit Week,” she said. “This is a week where we celebrate student athletes.”

LeMaire said that Thursday evening the women’s and men’s basketball team will take on Enterprise State’s Boll Weevils.

“Thursday, immediately following the women’s game (starts at 5:30 p.m.), there will be recognition of parents of sophomore players,” LeMaire said. “During the halftime of the men’s game (starts at 7:30 p.m.), there is the presentation of the 2017 Blue/White sweethearts. These are individuals selected by each club and organization on campus.”

Saints Angels have also painted windows and doors.

Paula Williamson and Katie O’Neal were the blue ribbon winners in LBW’s Soup and Chili Cookoff on Tuesday.

Williamson won “best chili” and the people’s choice award for her white chicken chili. O’Neal won “best soup” for her Brunswick soup.

The event was a fundraiser for LBW’s chapter of PTK, which is raising money to attend the international convention in Nashville in August.

Today there will be a “Roast the Weevils” bonfire behind the student center at 6 p.m.
