LBWCC Saints surge past Wallace-Hanceville

The LBWCC Saints’ baseball team rallied from behind to knock off Wallace-Hanceville 4-3 on Saturday afternoon in Andalusia.

In the top of the first inning, Wallace got a few singles and pushed across the first run of the game.

The Saints limited the damage when Jesse Hall snagged a line drive and threw to Ko Powell at second for a double play.

Matthew Christian evened the game up in the bottom of the first inning when he launched a two-out home run over the fence in left field.

In the top of the second inning, Wallace loaded up the bases on a double and two walks, but the R Olsey picked up a pair of strikeouts to end the threat.

Wallace threatened again in the top of the fifth inning, but a strikeout from D Williams ended the frame.

Walker Messer led off the bottom of the fifth inning with single to center field.

After a strikeout from the next batter, Hall ripped a double to left field, moving Messer to third base.

Wallace choose not to pitch to Christian and issued him a free pass to load up the bases for the Saints.

Chauncey Callier then put the Saints on top 2-1 with a sacrifice fly to right field that allowed Messer to come across with ease.

On the following play, Christian took off for second and drew a threw from the Wallace catcher.

Christian slide safely into second and Hall used the distraction to sprint home to put LBWCC up 3-1.

The Saints padded their lead when Bryson Gandy launched a double into the gap in right center field.

Christian was easily able to cross the plate to give the Saints a 4-1 lead.

Wallace made things interesting in the top of the seventh inning as the picked up four hits and two runs, but the Saints were able to get a strikeout and fly out to preserve the victory.
