Outgoing Andalusia School Board member Walter Wytch was recognized Monday night for his four years of service.

“I was often asked during my four years on the board, ‘Do you have any children in the system?’

“I always say I have 1,700. Because I’m a advocate for good education.”

Wytch, who is a former educator, said he had a experience serving on the board, and hopes he inspires his children by his service. He said he chose not to seek reelection because, at 78, he fears he could not give 100 percent for four more years.

Former board member Sammy Glover will be sworn in as a new board member at the November meeting.
