Approximately six ounces of methamphetamine was taken off the streets in a 48-hour period this week, thanks to the combined efforts of Florala Police Chief Sonny Bedsole, Lockhart Police Chief Greg Jackson, and 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force agents.

Chief Bedsole and Chief Jackson made the first arrest on Finks Mill Road where they took Justin Kyle Davis into custody on a traffic stop and charged him with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine. His bond was set at $100,000.

Chief Bedsole and Chief Jackson then teamed up and were involved in a vehicle pursuit which ended in the vehicle crashing into a ditch. They were able to recover approximately one ounce of methamphetamine at that time, and charges are pending.

Later that day, working on information received from Florala and Lockhart Police Drug Task Force agents and assisted by the Opp Police Department, they were able to take around four ounces of methamphetamine off the streets of Opp.

James Eric Bell was charged with drug trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $503,000.

These drugs were headed towards the streets of Lockhart, Florala Opp, as well as into Covington County, Jackson said.

“A team effort led to a large amount of methamphetamine being taken off the street,” he said.
