Local favorite McDaniel is opener

The Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo Committee announced the Saturday lineup and headline entertainment for the 59th Annual Rattlesnake Rodeo at the Opp City Council regular meeting Monday night.

Tyler Farr, who was nominated for Breakthrough Video of the Year in the CMT Music Awards, will headline Saturday’s entertainment. His current chart climbing video is “Love by the Moon.” His past hits include “Our Town,” “I Don’t Even Want This Beer,” “Better In Boots,” “Hot Mess” and Billboard Country’s number two chart topper “Redneck Crazy.” Farr is also filming for his new T.V. show that is set to air in late January.

Opening for the headliner on Saturday is Opp native and Nashville recording artist Martin McDaniel. He has two singles from his debut EP, “About Last Night,” and “Alabama Jersey.”

“We are very excited about these acts,” Mayor Becky Bracke said. “We tried to incorporate a lot of local acts. We are excited to hear these new voices again after the karaoke contest.”

Also performing on Saturday, March 23, will be Michele Norris, who won the Fourth of July karaoke contest, and Daniel Mock, who took second place. Opp’s own “Elvis” Randy Tuttle and Stanford Slim and the Soulful Saints from the Wiregrass area also will perform.

Bracke said that the entire community is excited to hear McDaniel perform.

“We are so proud of him,” Bracke said. “It will be a pleasure to hear him perform in Opp again.”

She hopes that a lot of people will come listen to Farr when he performs Saturday night.

“Tyler has a lot of hits,” Bracke said. “Hopefully that will draw a crowd of people to watch on Saturday.”
